Service

Windscreen Replacement

Cracked, pitted or chipped in the wrong place? We fit the new glass and, if there's a camera behind the mirror, book its calibration in the same visit.

The job

A cracked or chipped windscreen is a safety issue and, on most vehicles built in the last decade, also a sensor issue. The forward-facing camera that reads lane markings, following distance and pedestrians is bonded to the glass, so refitting a windscreen means refitting its calibration target too.

We fit OEM-equivalent glass, correctly primed and bonded to the manufacturer's cure time, and if the vehicle carries a windscreen-mounted camera we book the calibration in the same visit through National ADAS Calibrations rather than sending the car away a second time.

What's included

  • OEM-equivalent glass and moulding
  • Correct urethane bonding and cure time
  • Same-visit ADAS camera calibration where fitted
  • Insurance and fleet billing accepted

What to expect

How the job runs

The order we work in, so there are no surprises on the day.

  1. Match the glass

We identify the exact windscreen for your vehicle and check for a camera, rain sensor, heating or HUD, so the part ordered is the part your car left the factory with.

  2. Remove the old glass

The old windscreen is cut out, the dash and paint are protected, and the old urethane in the frame is trimmed back to a thin, even layer.

  3. Prime and bond

Bare spots in the frame are primed, then the new glass goes on a fresh bead of urethane and is set to the original position.

  4. Cure

Urethane needs time before it's safe to drive. It depends on the product, the temperature and the vehicle, and we give you the time for your job.

  5. Calibrate and hand over

If the vehicle has a windscreen camera, it's calibrated before you collect it, and you get the calibration report.

Questions

About windscreen replacement

Will my car need a calibration after the windscreen is replaced?

If it has a camera on or near the windscreen for lane keeping, automatic emergency braking or adaptive cruise, yes. The camera's view has to line up with the road again, and a new piece of glass changes that by a small amount. We check before the job and book it for the same visit.

What glass do you fit?

OEM-equivalent glass matched to your vehicle, including the right moulding and bracket for any camera or sensor. If you'd prefer a particular type, say so when you enquire and we'll tell you what's available for your model.

How long before I can drive it?

That depends on the urethane, the weather and the vehicle. It's often around an hour in mild conditions and longer when it's cold or very dry. We tell you the time for your car before you leave, and we won't hand the keys back early.

Send the make, model and year (or the rego) and what's wrong with the glass. We'll confirm what it needs, including whether the camera has to be recalibrated, before you book.
